Welcome to Year 5's Class Page
Bring on the Summer! Another term in our sights! As usual this term is jam packed.
I hope you and your child have had a great Easter. This term we will continue our medium term plan as shown on the website and focus on reading and spelling. In class we will also continue to prepare for test conditions to ensure that we use the most effective strategies possible.
We will continue using the reading tickets to keep encouraging the children to read more. Remember your child’s Reading Record Book does not need to be brought in however you still can use it for personal use. I will be keeping a record of the reading tickets as usual, therefore I would be grateful if you could make sure your child makes a note on the reading ticket what book/text they have read.
Homework is still the same with spellings sent each week and the reading tickets. However, as I have mentioned to the class, the work that we have done I still would like them to be practiced if not fully confident. Therefore, things to be taken home for practice will be ideal, or the use of home resources. Various websites that I have labelled on the webpage are some good examples for constant practice.
I do insist that each child does some form of work at home.
Our focus is the local area therefore we will have a trip to Hollingworth Lake. This has been scheduled for 19th April. We have another active trip organised in the 2nd summer term. Details will be given in due course.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to pop in and see me.
